Completed in late summer of 2011 by Reineking Construction This new home in Missoula features R40 walls using double stud construction and dense pack cellulose. Attic insulation will be R60. Fiberglass framed triple glazed windows from Serious Windows average U.18. The homeowners have installed temperature and air quality monitoring equipment throughout the home and are actively monitoring the home’s environment. This is a rare opportunity to collect actual field data to verify the energy model used to design this home.
The South Elevation of the house. The house was positioned on the lot to take advantage of views of Lolo Peak as well as some passive solar gains. The South facing windows use Serious 525H glazing for improved solar gain in the winter. Overhangs are tuned to help avoid overheating in the summer months.
The Front porch features reclaimed timbers and a low maintenance stained concrete floor. The house has 3 coat stucco siding on a fully vented rain screen to ensure the durability of the 12″ vapor open cellulose walls.
The home has been designed to accommodate primarily single level living, featuring wheelchair accessible living areas throughout. A walkout basement takes advantage of the gently sloping site and provides extra space for future needs.
